She attended school in Felch, graduating from Felch High School in 1961. Joyce was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Garold Beurjey on June 8, 1963, at Mission Covenant Church in Foster City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2008.
Joyce worked as a custodian for more than 30 years at the Felch Township Hall, and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at HCR Manorcare Nursing Center in Kingsford for nearly 13 years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and also caring for her flower garden. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol Cary, Betty Henningfeld and Bonnie Grissmeyer; and a brother, Richard Wickman.
Joyce is survived by one son, Bryan Beurjey (Anna Vicenzi) of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Dana (Robert) Smith of Felch; grandchildren, Tyler and Briana Smith, and Charleigh Beurjey; a brother, Ernest Wickman of Felch; two sisters, Grace (Don) Norman of Iron Mountain, and Shirley (Marvin) Fischer of Clintonville, Wis.; several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, from 11 a.m. to noon at Zion Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Joel Smeby will officiate. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Zion Lutheran Church.
