Charlotte Winetta Cole of Greenwood died Monday, October 14, 2013, at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Greenwood on August 4, 1922, the daughter of Lester Wilbur Cole and Carrie Winetta Dunham Cole. She graduated from Greenwood Center School, known as Shadagee School. Charlotte became employed at E.L Tebbets in Locke Mills in 1941 to be later owned by EKCO, where she worked for over 40 years.
Charlotte was a caregiver to her parents for many years before moving to her home overlooking Twitchell Pond. She was a member of the Franklin Grange for 65 years, where she held many officer chairs and also belonged to the State Grange. She was a member of the Locke Mills Union Church, its Lady's Circle and the Community Club.
She sang and played the guitar and was called upon at family gatherings and wherever she was needed to entertain. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, fishing, playing cards, checkers and dominoes. Charlotte was especially well-known for her baking and always made more than she needed so she could give it away. She enjoyed spending time with her wide circle of relatives and friends.
Charlotte was a strong, hard-working, dedicated woman. It was so sad to see her slip away with dementia, slowly losing the life that she loved.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Carrie "Netta" Cole; her special auntie, Vera Cross; her brother, Herschel Cole Sr.; her nephews, Herschel Jr. and David Cole; and her great-nephew, Jordan Cole.
