His parents married Feb 11, 1841 in the Franklin TWP, Wayne CO., Ohio. With 4 children the family moved to Appanoose CO., Iowa just prior to Ben's birth in 1856.

Mr. Henry Adams one of the owners of the Frank Adams Mine, spent a few days in town this week, making preparations and laying in supplies to enable him to work this valuable lode during the winter months. The shaft is now fifty feet deep and shows a rich body of ore, varying in thickness from six inches to two feet. The average mill run has been about 200 ounces; the lowest being 112 and highest being 1261 ounces per ton and no doubt will produce enough ore to pay good dividends from this time on. The reputation of the Frank Adams Mine is second to none in this District, having paid its way from the grass roots to the present time, and is looked upon as one of the most promising lodes on Henson Creek. Henry is a good fellow and we congratulate him upon being the owner of such a fine prospect.

We understand that the widow is not satisfied with this arrangement and there is liable to be legal complications before the matter is settled.

John Emmons Adams, who was a farmer, was born in Wooster, Wayne county, Ohio, May 2, 1816; removed with his family from Ohio to Iowa in 1856, and died in the latter state Oct. 7, 1875. His father, whose name was William Adams, was born Feb. 27, 1786, in the State of Pennsylvania. He died in Ashland county, Ohio, July 1, 1861. William Adams' wife was Mary Emmons, born in Scotland Sept. 7, 1791, and died in Ashland county, Ohio, Aug. 2, 1854. William Adams, together with his two brothers, John and Hugh, removed from Pennsylvania to Wayne county, Ohio, in 1815. Frances Elizabeth Depler, the mother of John W. Adams, was born in Germany, April 1, 1821, a daughter of Jacob and Frances (Oppenhouser) Depler. She came to the United States with her parents in the spring of 1831, and died at Moulton, Iowa, Jan. 17, 1871.

John Wesley Adams, one of the foremost members of the Wichita bar and ex-state representative, was born in Ashland county, Ohio, April 22, 1859, a son of John Emmons and Frances Elizabeth (Depler) Adams. John Emmons Adams, who was a farmer, was born in Wooster, Wayne county, Ohio, May 2, 1816; removed with his family from Ohio to Iowa in 1856, and died in the latter state Oct. 7, 1875. His father, whose name was William Adams, was born Feb. 27, 1786, in the State of Pennsylvania. He died in Ashland county, Ohio, July 1, 1861. William Adams' wife was Mary Emmons, born in Scotland Sept. 7, 1791, and died in Ashland county, Ohio, Aug. 2, 1854. William Adams, together with his two brothers, John and Hugh, removed from Pennsylvania to Wayne county, Ohio, in 1815. Frances Elizabeth Depler, the mother of John W. Adams, was born in Germany, April 1, 1821, a daughter of Jacob and Frances (Oppenhouser) Depler. She came to the United States with her parents in the spring of 1831, and died at Moulton, Iowa, Jan. 17, 1871.

Mr. Henry Adams one of the owners of the Frank Adams Mine, spent a few days in town this week, making preparations and laying in supplies to enable him to work this valuable lode during the winter months. The shaft is now fifty feet deep and shows a rich body of ore, varying in thickness from six inches to two feet. The average mill run has been about 200 ounces; the lowest being 112 and highest being 1261 ounces per ton and no doubt will produce enough ore to pay good dividends from this time on. The reputation of the Frank Adams Mine is second to none in this District, having paid its way from the grass roots to the present time, and is looked upon as one of the most promising lodes on Henson Creek. Henry is a good fellow and we congratulate him upon being the owner of such a fine prospect.

"Mrs. Frank Adams returned Monday night from her trip to Wichita, Kansas where she went as soon as learned of her husband's death. However, she received the notice too late to get there in time for the funeral. She learned while there that Mr. Adams had made a will just before he died in which he left all of his property, including a half interest in the valuable Excelsior Mine, to his brothers. We understand that the widow is not satisfied with this arrangement and there is liable to be legal complications before the matter is settled.

Brother of Well Known Wichita Attorneys Succombs to Heart Disease
B.F.H. Adams of Hinsdale County, Colorado, a brother of John W. and George W. Adams, attorneys in Wichita died Saturday morning at a local hospital of heart disease. Mr. Adams came to a local hospital several weeks ago from Colorado in hopes the lower altitude would benefit him. He was able to be around until the time of his death. Mr. Adams had been one of the largest mine operators at Lake City, Colorado, and vicinity for many years. He was one of the most prominent citizens of Hinsdale County and had been for a quarter of a century. He had held many positions of honor and trust in the county. His body was taken to Moulton, Iowa, his old home, by his brothers Saturday evening. Funeral services and burial will be held at Moulton.
