He later settled in Dresden, where his works included the poem "Ode to Joy," later set to music by Beethoven in his Ninth Symphony. He became professor of history. His works include trilogy "Wallenstein," the greatest historical drama "Maria Stuart" and "Wilhelm Tell."

There is no body in the coffin at the mausoleum. The whereabouts of Schiller's body are unknown.
