Norma Jean Bechthold, 81, of Lockeford passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 in a local hospital. She was born October 10, 1922 at Belle, Missouri to Edwin Adolph Dahms and Margaret Lahmeyer Dahms.

She moved to Stockton in 1928 where she attended elementary, high school and graduated from the College of the Pacific in 1943. She started teaching in 1943 and taught at Atlanta, Henderson, Harmony Grove, Clements and Lockeford schools over a period of 38 years prior to retirement.

Mrs. Bechthold was a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church in Stockton in her earlier years. In her adult years, she was an active member of Ebenezer Congregational Church in Lodi. She was a charter member of the Tokay A's Model A Ford Club of Lodi and a member of the Zinfindel Auxiliary Branch of Lodi Memorial Hospital.

In December of 1943 she married Williams John Bechthold and together they moved to the Lockeford area. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1993.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a son William Edwin and his wife, Lornora Bechthold of Lodi. 2 Granddaughters: Evonne Annette Shinn, Jennelle Lynn Bechthold and a grandson-in-law, Matthew David Shinn.

Private family graveside services will be held at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to come for visitation on Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Congregational Church, 825 S. Central Ave., Lodi, CA 95240 or to the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 3004, Lodi, CA 95241.
