Mrs. Bennett, 53, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 9, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Stella lived in Charlotte for over 30 years and worked as a legal secretary for the law firm, Hunton & Williams.
Stella was caring, loving, fun and full of life. She loved to laugh and easily made friends. She was exceptionally strong in mind, body, and spirit. Stella enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and simply being at the beach. She always dressed to impress. An avid shopper, she especially liked shoes, and seemed to never have enough. No matter the price, she was always worth it.
Stella was predeceased by her parents and brother, Rick Vas of Houston, TX. Survivors include her daughter, Natalie Clark, son-in-law, Brian, and grandchildren, Justin and Raegan of Indian Trail, NC; her daughter, Emily Hamilton, son-in-law, Scott, and grandson, Logan of Raeford, NC; sister, Therese Abate of Houston, TX; companion, Steve Lanning of Sanford, NC; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that she so dearly cared about.
Services will be held at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center located at 5505 Monroe Rd., Charlotte NC 28212. Visitation is Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation to benefit the Blume Children's Cancer Clinic Fund, Presbyterian Hospital, Post Office Box 33549, Charlotte, North Carolina 28233.
