US Congressman. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and also was a register in chancery in Annapolis, Maryland. During the War of 1812, he was aide-de-camp to Major General William Winder. After the war, he served in various public offices in Delaware, Maryland and was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress, serving from 1833 to 1835. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he lived in retirement until his death.
