Taught School in Mississippi before the war. Married Laura e. Lewis Dec 21, 1864 and had four children. Moved to Tennessee after the war and opened a school.

There is a divorce file for N.A. Flournoy and A.R. Reid in 1875 in Haywood County, Tennessee. He married Dora Alston Smith October 19 1892, Haywood County TN.
