Mildred (Mitzi) Gebhardt Sechrist Covey, born March 24, 1909, in Erie, to the late Henry and Mayme (Rieger) Gebhardt, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at the age of 96, in The Woodlands, Texas, where she has made her home since 1995. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Arlene; her first husband, Charles A. Sechrist; a brother, Richard H. Gebhardt and wife, Jean; and her second husband of 42 years, George Wm. Covey. Mrs. Covey is survived by her daughter, Carole Sechrist Lazenby and husband Joe, of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Joe C. Lazenby and wife Cindy, of Foley, Ala.; granddaughters Sherri Lazenby Fox and husband Martin, of Clinton, Miss., and Laurie Lazenby Johnson and husband Kenneth, of Brandon, Miss.; six great-grandchildren; niece Dorothy J. Gebhardt; nephews Richard Gebhardt and wife Marilyn, and Robert Gebhardt, all of Erie; along with numerous great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind step-daughters Linda Covey Redding of Alameda, Calif., and Jeanne Covey Fracchia of San Francisco, Calif. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. West, 536 W. 10th St., on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Friday at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. John Coleman of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church.
