Antoinette Hatch Brown, 63, of Sandy, died of a sudden heart attack February 24, 2001, while celebrating their 40th anniversary in Acumal, Mexico.
She was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Ernest Seville and Fanny Bluth Hatch. She married Philip Ray Brown of St. Johns, Arizona on December 20, 1960 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They had 11 children.
She received her B.A. in Physical Education from Brigham Young University in 1961.
She taught school in Colnia Juarez, Mexico, and St. Johns, Arizona. Netta was the mother of 11 children, and devoted most of her energy to keeping them out of trouble.
A lifelong athlete, Netta was selected to the Mexican Olympic Basketball team. She was a ranked Master's Division tennis player, loved to swim and dive, and compete in softball and volleyball. She loved gardening, grandchildren, reunions, tubing, round swings, and reading.
Always active in the LDS church, Netta held many church callings during her life. She especially loved teaching Gospel Doctrine and was an avid student of the Gospel. The calling she enjoyed most was the one she shared with Phil, when they presided over the Porto Portugal Mission from 1990 to 1993.
Her family shares their sense of loss with the many faithful missionaries and the wonderful Portuguese church members.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 1, from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Roseboro Chapel, at 1880 East 9800 South, Sandy, UT. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2001 at 12 noon, at the Buttercup Chapel, at 1600 East Buttercup Drive (100th South) Sandy, A viewing will precede the funeral, 10-11 a.m.
