William C. Bauman, 92, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away Sept. 27, 2013, at Akron City Hospital.

He was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to the late Henry and Mary Catherine (Ward) Bauman.

Mr. Bauman lived in Ravenna the past seven years and was formerly of Parkersburg. He had worked as an auto body repairman for Havre Chevrolet and numerous body shops in Ravenna and West Virginia. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a former member of Blackhorse Baptist Church in Ravenna and Cedar Grove Freewill Baptist Church in West Virginia. He had served his country in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, on Dec. 9, 2012; two grandchildren; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Bill (Carol) Bauman, Harold (Peggy) Bauman, Jim (Barb) Bauman, Ginger (Jack) Elrod, Mary Kay (Ernie) Shipp, Sandy (Howard) Plum and Becky (Toby) Nichols; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be today from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. today at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel, with Pastor Dave Hermann officiating. Burial with military honors by the Ravenna VFW and U.S. Army will take place in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna, Ohio.
