A retired employee of Greyhound Bus Lines with 37 years of service and a resident of Albany, he died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at his home. He was 85 and a native of Woodville, Miss. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Albany. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Ernestine Jenkins Dawson, Albany; a son, Thomas W. Dawson III, Baton Rouge; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Keen, Long Beach, Miss.; two grandchildren, Cathy J. Hughes, Hattiesburg, Miss., and David S. Keen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas W. and Lillian Morris Dawson; a brother, John B. Dawson; and a sister, Bea Chester. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Order for 54 years, having beena member of Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 466 and the Fern Leaf Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
