Dennis M. Relaford October 14, 1949 - October 23, 2009
SALEM - Dennis Relaford died October 23 at the VA Hospital in Portland, Oregon after a 4 month battle with cancer. He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon graduating from Lakes High School in South Tacoma, he joined the US Navy and became a 20 year veteran. He lived the past 18 years in Salem, Oregon providing companionship and help to his mother whom he dearly loved. Dennis is survived by his mother Rosemary Relaford, brothers Jim and Ron Relaford, sisters Shannon Relaford and Annie Simpkins, uncle and aunt Charlie and Carol Berry. He is also survived by children Kevin Relaford, Heather Zelazowski and wife Jayne Relaford of Oak Harbor, Washington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is very grateful to the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital for providing expert and compassionate care to Dennis during his final days. Dennis requested no services. Contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Dennis was a Retired U.S. Navy Chief, ADC Dennis Relaford was stationed at NAS Whidbey Search & Rescue from 1987-1989 when he retired from the Navy.
