Mrs. Jennie Leah Curtiss, a lifelong resident of the Waverly community, died Wednesday, August 19, at 9:50 p.m., in Jacksonville, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Curtiss had been in ill health for the past four years.
Deceased was born near Waverly, June 25, 1878, a daughter of the late Ashford Wesley and Rhoda Schuler Dial.
On November 27, 1901, she was married to Frank H. Curtiss, of Waverly. They lived on a farm east of town until 1914, when they moved into Waverly where they built their home at the corner of South Pearl and Tanner streets.
She was a member of the Waverly Congregational church, and took a [prominent part in the music of that church a number of years ago. Also as long as her health permitted, she was a member of the Waverly Woman's club. She and her husband became members of Waverly Rebekah Lodge 104 on June 27, 1930, and she was a member of that lodge at the time of her death.
Mrs. Curtiss was a Waverly High School graduate in the class of 1897.
Mrs. Curtiss is survived by her husband, of this city; and one niece, Mrs. Paul Stone, of Springfield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. L. B. Turner, of Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at the Neece Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock.
Burial will be in East cemetery.
