John Allen Ashmore, 77, of Verbena died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

He was born on Tuesday, March 24, 1936 in Mississippi, Son of the late Robert Ashmore and the late Ida Cummings Ashmore.

He was in Law Enforcement.

Surviving are his wife, his two sons and one daughter-in-law, his step-son and step-daughter, two grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Son, John Jr. and a Twin Brother, Willie Albert Ashmore.

Friends will be received from 5-7, Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Tom Barnes officiating.

Interment will follow in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL.

John Allen Ashmore was a retired Master Sergeant for the US Air Force. Retiring after 20 plus years of service including service in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The last of his family to pass away. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gertha Lee Ashmore, 2nd wife Barbara L. Ashmore; sisters: Georgia Bell Ashmore Williams, Mary Faye Ashmore Cloninger, Bobbye Jean Ashmore Delk, Norma Ruth Ashmore Viglietti and twin brother Willie Albert Ashmore, Sr.

John is also survived by his daughter and his third wife.
