O. DALE ALCORN

ARCOLA -- O. Dale Alcorn, 87, of Arcola died Wednesday morning (March 14, 1984) in his home.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, with burial in Arcola Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of the United Presbyterian Church, Arcola, or the Blue Lodge Building Fund.

He was born Jan. 22, 1897, in Humboldt, a son of Louis and R. Nettie Tingley Alcorn. He married Ada Berniece Younger in 1916 at Arcola. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are a son, Dale of Peoria; two daughters, Mrs. Ross (Pauline) Hunt of Arcola and Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Sanders of Arthur; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Alcorn received his bachelor of science degree from Eastern Illinois Teachers College (now Eastern Illinois University) and a master of science degree from the University of Illinois. He served as a teacher and superintendent of schools in various units prior to retirement in 1962.

He was a 60-year member of the Arcola AF&AM Lodge, past patron of Order of Eastern Star and member of Ansar Shrine of Springfield, Danville Consistory, United Presbyterian Church of Arcola and Arcola American Legion post. He was a veteran of World War I.
