Quietly, this noble life began on August 9, 1931 in Hollandale, Mississippi. On Friday, May 2,1986, as Mary laid upon her bed God silently called her into Eternal Rest.
Mary Lucille Gore Owens, relocated to Memphis, Tennessee at an early age and was educated in the Public Schools System. Mary accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended the Bloomfield Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend L. S. Biles. In 1959, Mary relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and attended The New Psalmist Baptist Church. In 1945 Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Clarence Owens and their union was blessed with four sons and one daughter. Mary and Clarence attended The First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, under the leadership of The Late Pastor, Bishop Leo K. Ceaser. Mary joined The Senior Choir and The Willing Workers Organization.
Mary was a thoughtful person and she cared greatly about the welfare of the less fortunate, giving all that she could to help them. Mary was given the task to organize The Charity Organization by the late Pastor. While serving in that capacity, Mary served on The Senior Male and Female Usher Board. Mary was responsible for The Food Services Committee here in the Church. Mary was associated with various Community Organizations. Mary served in the Church and the Community both faithfully with devotion until God called her into His Heavenly Home.
