Bessie Lucile Andros (my "gramma") was born May 17, 1921 in Clay Co., Hawley,Minnesota to Leo and Helen Julia Berger (Maiden name: Kasin).
She died on Sept. 21, 1998.
On that very day, a part of me died, too.

Bessie's father Leo was born in Lemberg, Austria, Hungary and came into the USA in 1902 at age 9. He arrived at Ellis island on May 14, 1902 on ship: Friedrich der Grosse. The port of departure was Bremen. Last residence: Men Mizon Passengers on the ship included: Jakob Fuchs (Jacob Fox), Charlotte Fuchs (AKA: Snowberger/Berger, Fuchs/Fox, Smith, & Maureth/Mauratt), Leopold Fuchs (Snowberger/Berger), Philipp Fuchs (Fox, Snowberger, Berger, Philip Snow Berger), Stefan Fuchs (Fannie,Stephanni, Fox, Muss, Kessler), Rose Fuchs (Rose/Rozella/Fox/Swift/Thibert)

Bessie's mom, Helen Julia Kasin was born in Iowa to Ole Kasin (Ole Halvorson Kasin) and Berget (Bergit Olsdtr. Kasa), both from Telemark, Norway.

At the time of her passing, Bessie was survived by one son, George (Patricia) Andros Jr. of Portage, IN, 2 grandchildren; Jeanne (Dr. William) Darroca, and AnnMarie Andros of Portage, 3 great grandchildren Dimitre & Alexis Darroca, and Christian DeBold.
Bessie also had nieces on her sister, Dorothy's side of the family.
Preceded in death by one brother, Orin (Alys) Berger, & 2 sister's Dorothy (Fontana/Miller), & Arlene (Steve) Cherven and their only son, Jimmy.
Bessie and some of her family are buried at Chapel Lawn Memorial Chapel in Schererville, IN.

My grandmother Bessie was THE greatest Gramma in the world. She was definitely one of THE most influential people in my whole life. She shaped my life in SO many ways. She was brilliant! She could do anything! She was such an inspiration! She instilled in me a love for music and art. She sang and played the organ beautifully (Many happy memories laughing and singing with Aunt Arlene, Grandma, and my sister!). She played the ukulele, harmonica, ... She created beautiful ornaments, prepared the yummiest meals and treats. She'd crochet the most lovely things. She was caring, generous, and just beautiful inside and out.
I think about her EVERY day & miss her more than words can ever express.
