L.D. McRee
October 10, 1921 - September 9, 2013
L.D. McRee former dairyman and row crop farmer passed away September 9, 2013, at home with family by his side. He was the son of Elmer and Manda McRee of Keota, Oklahoma. The family moved to California on January 1, 1930. He attended Dairyland Elementry School and graduated from Chowchilla High School, class of 1940. He made his first cotton crop with his father's mules his junior year of high school. In 1942 he married Betty June Cathey of Le Grand, California.
He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Janis, granddaughter Stephanie and her husband Woody, great-grandsons Wilem and Benjamin; son Jim and wife Maureen, grandchildren Briana and her husband Ken, great-grandchildren Theron and Aviana; Cameron, Tatiana and Matthias. He is also survived by his brother Warren and several nieces and nephews.
L.D. was a member of the Valley West Christian Center in Madera. He was also known to be a hard worker. He ran his cattle seasonably between Raymond, Hornitis and Los Banos. He operated a dairy between 1943-1986 and also farmed alfalfa, cotton and corn.
On Saturday, September 14, 2013, a private service was held at the historic Cathey Family Cemetery in Catheys Valley, California.
