Memorial services for Helen M. Beers, 89, will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Killeen with the Rev. Randy Wallace officiating.

Mrs. Beers died Sept. 18, 2013, in Waco. She was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Germany.

Helen and her husband, Henry W. Beers, lived in Killeen for more than 55 years. She retired after 36 years of service from AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Service), without taking a sick day. She volunteered "everywhere": the Killeen Food Center, various veteran's groups, nursing homes and church, anywhere she felt she could help. She believed in giving back to her community.

Mrs. Beers was preceded in death by her love, Henry W. Beers in 1992.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Don and Paula Beers of Hubbard and Charles and Peggy Beers of Perryton; grandchildren, Brian Beers and his daughter, Brooke, of Garland, Amanda Beers of Hewitt, Missy Chappell Valerio and Dagoberto and their children, Gabriel and Hannah, all of Bellmead, Paul Chappell and his children, Laney and Justin, of Waco, Jason and Keri Beers, and their son, Jake, of Austin, Shelby Beers and her daughter, Abigail, of Amarillo, and Kimberly Beers of Austin.

Memorials may be made to FBC Killeen Building Fund, FBC Hubbard Building Fund or to a charity of one's choice.
