James Gordon Howton, of Wildwood, age 77, passed away on September 10, 2005. He was born in Jesup, Georgia and moved here in 1956 from Palatka, FL. He was a retired butcher and police officer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wildwood, where he was a past Deacon and Wildwood Masonic Lodge #92. He was an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife, Frances of Wildwood; sons, John of Ocala, George and Dan of Wildwood; daughter, Betty Barres of Robinsville, NC; sisters, Earleen Miller, Lakeland and Mary Carlsen, Waterford, MI; seven grandchildren and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Howton in 1995. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 12th from 6-8 PM at the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday September 13, 2005 at 10AM in the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Attaway officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery with graveside Masonic Rites. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Wildwood Building Fund or Hospice of Lake and Sumter Counties, 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32756.
