Obituary
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Shirley Jane Miller, age 64, the former Shirley Jane Legere, who passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her residence.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Miller was a native and lifelong resident of Cankton. She was employed with Dr. Stephen Abshire for more than 25 years as a medical billing specialist. She was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton.
Shirley was an extremely loving person and was loved very much. She was a wonderful mother to all that knew her and was an adored grandmother and great grandmother as well. She wholeheartedly enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and taking care of her flowers and fruit trees. She truly loved the simple pleasures in life. Her spirit will live on, not just through her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but everyone she has come into contact with over the years. Her radiant smile will be remembered and missed daily by all who knew her. We all love you and can't wait to see you again in heaven.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Edgar Miller of Cankton; two daughters, Angela Gooch and her husband, David, of Russia and Michelle Miller Bordelon of Cankton; one sister, Mary Courvelle and her husband, Clevis Paul, of Scott; six grandchildren, Valerie Gooch, D.J. Gooch, Dylan Gooch, Victoria Cormier, Katie Istre, and Dane Istre; and one great grandchild, Riley Boutte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Legere and the former Noella Marie Menard.
