Find A Grave contributor Jessica has made a suggestion: You may want to note this interesting fact. I've found him and his brother William on the 1860 census (he was 17 and William was 14) and it lists his name as David, but the actual headstone reads "DAN'L" which would be Daniel. So I looked up his government stone order and it says Daniel--same military record and death date. So someone made a mistake.
David also enlisted on August 20, 1862 at Indianapolis, is the son of Jacob and Polly (Bowles) Boots, and was born in Indiana ~1843. His brother William is buried near him.
