Mamie was the daughter of Edgar Daniel Towl, MD and Isabella Mary (Hawkins)later Mrs. Cook. Mary's nickname was Mamie, born & raised in Salem, Oregon. Went to live with her aunt Mary J Towl in Merrillville, Lake Co. IN. There she met and married 1st, Clarence George Beattie. A few days after their first & only child, Mary Grace was born, George was killed in a train accident while working on the railroad. She later went to secretarial School in Portland, OR. She worked for the census bureau in Washington, D.C. There she met and married Edward Alexander Paul. Three children: Edward A. Jr.; Ethel R. and Estelle H. Paul.
She died from the Flu.
