Dorothy Brorson, 77, of Spring Valley, died Saturday, April 20, at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, with her family at her side.

Dorothy was born March 6, 1936, the daughter of Emil and Evelyn (Hanson) Timm in Cady Township, Wis. She grew up in Cady and attended Spring Valley School, graduating with the class of 1955.

On Aug. 27, 1955, Dorothy married Arnold Brorson at the Wilson Lutheran Church.

They were blessed with three children: Dawn, Duane, and Deanna. Dorothy loved music and sang in the Combined Choir and with the Flower Hat Ladies. Arnold and Dorothy enjoyed traveling, golfing, and especially spending time with their family. She loved to cook and would comment that it made her happy to see her family eating and enjoying her meals. She worked at the Spring Valley school as a cook for 27 years and was an active member of Gilman Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister Mildred Timm; brother Dennis Timm; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Corvin and Evelyn Halvorson, Dale and Gladys Brorson, Audrey and Mike Grant, and Roy Johnson.

Survivors include husband Arnold, Spring Valley; her three children: Dawn (Steve) Wood, Elmwood; Duane (Elaine) Brorson, Spring Valley; and Deanna (Jeff) Powell, Spring Valley; six grandchildren, Lynnette Dahl, Nova Wood, Jason (Avril) Wood, Mandi (Corey Norby) Wood, Benjamin (Jacqueline) Brorson, and Pamela (Timothy) Gartmann; 12 great-grandchildren: Amber, Jesse, Kloe, Kyra; Stephanie, Brittney; Jacob, Courtney; Cori; Kaydence, Brayden, and Emelynn; two brothers, one sister: Rodney (Mary) Timm, Wilson; Jerry (Sandy) Timm, St. Paul; and Arlys (Donald) Olson, Menomonie; sisters-in-law Jan Timm, Menomonie, and Joanne Johnson, Spring Valley; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, with Rev. D. Peter Friberg officiating. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. Carole Lynum was organist; Joy Wilson was vocalist. Pallbearers were Dorothy's grandchildren and their spouses. Honorary bearers were Dorothy's great-grandchildren. Burial was in Gilman Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.
