Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 29, at Hoepner Funeral Home, with Rev. S. E. Vevang of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Pallbearers are Eddie Albertson, Lester Holznagel, Russell Holznagel, Norman Campbell, Clinton Berg and Charles Bloedow. Burial will be in the Sanborn Cemetery, Sanborn, Minnesota.
John George Holznagel was born August 24, 1880, in Charlestown township, Redwood County, the son of Louis and Emma (Jacob) Holznagel. He lived in Sanborn 40 years and worked for the Chicago and North Western railroad. He married Friedericka Sophie Katharina Agnes (Harmsen) Nath on January 31, 1929, in Redwood Falls. Agnes preceded her in death on March 12, 1950. He continued to live in Sanborn, until he became a resident of the Redwood County Nursing Home in Redwood Falls in 1962.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Margaret Nath of Omaha, NE; one step-son, Alvin M. Nath of Milwaukee, WI; five step-grandchildren; one sister, Ernestina (John) Schaffer of Sioux Falls, SD; and one brother, Fred Holznagel of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters and three brothers.
