He formerly farmed and was a livestock man in Sangamon county residing most of her early life in the Virden community.
He was born in Kentucky and came to Illinois when a young man. He later was employed on the lake police force in Springfield and his last employment was a Weaver Manufacturing Co. He was forced to retire because of ill health abouth three years ago.
He was a member of the Virden Masonic order, the Springfield consistory and Ansar Shrine.
He was married to Zazel Eskew in Springfield in May, 1948.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Lewis, of Magnolia, Ky.; Mrs. Sophia Sporleder, of Waverly; and Mrs. Dorothy Boggs, of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Remains were at Ellinger & Kunz funeral home where services were held.
Virden Masonic lodge directed graveside services at Oak Hill cemetery.
