AUBIN, Richard E. "Dick" 80, of Boston and Truro, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2013, surrounded by family. He was born to the late Antoinette (Cadorette) Aubin and Arthur Aubin on January 30, 1933 in Cambridge. After losing his father in 1938, Dick and his now-deceased brother Arthur were raised by a veritable village of Cadorettes and spent many summers in Truro with their uncles. Dick graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin in 1951 and joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 328th Communications Reconnaissance Company, Fort Devens, Massachusetts and was stationed near Munich, Germany as a cryptanalyst decoding Soviet Union communications at the dawn of the Cold War. Dick subsequently matriculated at Boston University on the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Dick went to work at the Retina Foundation where he met Ann Trainor, who became his wife and partner for life in 1964 and survives him. Together they raised three children in West Roxbury. In 1981, he founded Aubin International, Inc. and subsequently opened offices in Boston, Paris and London. He worked extensively in Western and then Eastern Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain. He retired in 2002. Dick loved to read and had a great appreciation for all kinds of music, art and history. He loved being around young people and his grandchildren in particular. He will be greatly missed by those who survive him and whom he loved so much: his wife, Ann; his children, Lisa Mathieu of Barnstable, Richard and Kara Aubin of Dallas, Texas and Kathleen and Bob Pickering of Natick; his grandchildren, Mikayla and Lilly Mathieu, Jack Pickering, Antoinette, Olivia, Eleanor and Genevieve Aubin; and, innumerable nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the family will be at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), MARSTONS MILLS, MA 02648 on Tuesday, September 10th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA 02632 on Wednesday, September 11th at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at the Massachusetts National Military Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532.
