She was born April 3, 1917, in Beardstown, Ill., to Emmet and Minnie (Riemenschneider) Icenogle. She graduated from Beardstown High School and received a nursing degree from Passavant Hospital, Jacksonville, Ill.
She married Dale Lester Phillips on Dec. 20, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1986. She was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She lived in Peoria, Ill., until 1984, in Hays until 1998, and at the Good Samaritan Center in Ellis until the time of her death.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays.
Survivors include a son, Paul Phillips and wife, Patricia, Hays; a daughter, Carol Anderson and husband, Charles, Tucson, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Keri Applequist and husband, Patrick, Larned, Paula Charlene Anderson, Tucson, and Carla Whitlock and husband, John, Vail, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Phillip Applequist, Charles Hannaford, and John and Bradley Whitlock.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Icenogle.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 20th and Main, Hays; burial in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays.
