BENTON, JOHN Served as a Private in Captain Jacob Marshall's Company, under
Lieutenant Colonel Jeremiah Shappel, Pennsylvania Militia, from the 1st of September, 1814, until the 4th of December, 1814, at two dollars a month.

Born in Berks County, the 4th of August, 1786; married Eve Conser in 1825; died
at East Freedom, Blair County the 29th of November, 1868; and buried in Lutheran
Cemetery at Newry. Widow resided at Tyrone in 1879.
