Daniel Joseph Barreto was born in Reno on June 11, 1951 to Lucy and Daniel Barreto. He graduated from Reno High School in 1969 and served in the US Navy as an Admiral's Flight Engineer in Southeast Asia and Rescue Helicopter Crew Chief in Corpus Christi, Texas, Midway Island and Whidbey Island, Washington until 1979.

Dan was a journeyman electrician employed by Nelson Electric for 30 years, a member of the IBEW, and a director emeritus of the Reno Rodeo Association.

Preceded in death by his father, Daniel A. Barreto, Dan is survived by his mother, Lucy Ripa Barreto, sister, Linda Eller, brother, Tom Barreto, nephew, Sean Eller, and niece, Kasey Barreto. Dan was married to his best friend, Kelli Sertic, for 20 years.

An energetic force, Dan made an impression wherever he went. He enjoyed cooking and fishing, and loved the ocean. Danny will be greatly missed by all who love him.

At Dan's request, no service will be held.
