Funeral services for Russell William Crockett, 93, a native of Ukiah and cowboy, are scheduled for Tuesday in Covelo. Born on July 9, 1906, Mr Crockett died in Covelo on Thursday, August 12, 1999. He was a trapper who loved the outdoors including bear hunting, a foreman at the Diamond H Ranch for many years, and a cowboy who rode a horse until the age of 90. Crockett also worked for the County of Mendocino. He was a charter member of the Covelo Riding Club, a lifelong member of the Assembly of God Church, and was helpful to children in Gymkhana. Mr Crockett is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gertrude "Doty" Crockett, and numerous nieces and nephews.
