Harold William Fritz, age 81 of 156 N. Wood Avenue, Peshtigo, Wisconsin, passed away on March 24, 2004 at his home after a long courageous 7-1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born on October 30, 1922, the son of the late Emil F. and Christine (Malke) Fritz.

He graduated from Ripon College.

On Jan. 5, 1944, he married the former Mary "Elizabeth" Betters.

Harold worked at Badger Paper Mill for 44 years, except for the 3 years of service in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; alderman for 17 years and served on many different committees on the Peshtigo City Council. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping and spending winters in Arizona.

Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary;
his children: Dennis (Markie) of Green Bay, WI; Marlene (Frank) Biernat of Rice Lake, WI; Michael (Diane) of Peshtigo, WI; Lynette (Joseph) Brosig of Marinette, WI;
11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers: Omer, Roy and Emil and one sister Vivian Bertrand.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Geneva Baldwin and one brother Clarence.

Visitation at the Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home; funeral services at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
