David Wayne Atkinson, 20, of Britton, died Tuesday, July 4, 1989, at White Lake northeast of Britton due to a drowning accident.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Britton. The Rev. Douglas Diehl will officiate.

Burial will be in Britton Cemetery under the direction of Franzen Funeral Chapel in Britton.

He was born Oct. 18, 1968, at Britton, to Gerald and Louise (Kimball) Atkinson. He graduated from Britton High School in 1987. He worked at the Red Owl since he was a sophomore in high school except from January to April 1988 when he worked in Arizona. He returned to Britton and worked as an assistant manager in the Red Owl Store.

Survivors include his parents of Britton; five sisters, Mrs. Brian (Cheryl) Loebs of Aberdeen, Mrs. Steve (Lori) McCormick of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mrs. Hal (Joni) Bush of Rapid City, Mrs. Kirk (Janelle) Swanson of Claremont and Mrs. Neal (Lana) Wietgrefe of Redfield; and one grandfather, Francis Kimball of Claremont.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
