Daniel Lee Groves, 28, of Scammon, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 18 as the result of a fireworks explosion at Crestline, Kansas.

He was born to Daniel Lee and Sue Winters Groves at Columbus, Ks. He attended area schools.

He entered the U.S. Navy on Oct. 19, 1999. He served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk as a Welder/Fireman and pyrotechnics specialist. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 29, 2003.

He was of the baptist faith and was baptized in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was employed at Jake's Spectacular, Inc. in Pittsburg, Ks.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel Groves of Scammon, Ks. and Sue Macklin of Chicago, Ill.
