James Johnston, later changed to Johnson, He is thought to be a brother to Noble Johnston. Their parents are unknown at this time. I have been researching this line for many years.

Someone has erroneously placed James as being the son of Col. William Johnson and Mariah Rebecca Larkin. Mariah was b. 1745. My James Johnson had one known brother, Noble Johnston, b. 1752. So if Mariah was their mother, she would have been age 7 years old when she gave birth to Noble! Col. William Johnson, b. 18 April 1746 would have been age 7 years old when Noble Johnston was born!

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT MARIAH REBECCA LARKIN b. 1745 and Col. William Johnson ARE NOT THE PARENTS OF THIS JAMES JOHNSON, b. 16 Jan 1761.

I personally own the original obituary stating that James was born in Limerick, Ireland on 16 Jan 1761. I also have a copy of his Revolutionary War records and a copy of the Widow's pension that was entered by his wife, Ann Cole Johnson.

I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution through this great patriot, James Johnston (Johnson) I have been working on this line for over 25 years and have met many cousins who descend from this James. I am putting together a genealogy of this great patriot, James Johnson. Please get in touch if you have information to add and if you are descended from him.
