Melvin Joseph Arndorfer, the son of George Arndorfer and Louise (Nepple) Arndorfer, was born on June 10, 1929 in Algona, Iowa. On May 2, 1959 he was united in marriage with Ida Mae Kutschara at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1955-56 in Germany. He worked at Britt Implement for 2 years and then farmed near St. Benedict. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, had served as Vice President for Kossuth County ARC, and also served as a committee person for Prairie Township. Melvin also helped with Exceptional Opportunities and St. Benedict projects. He enjoyed fixing and repairing tricycles and bicycles, collecting toy tractors, gardening, helping neighbors with farming after his retirement, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish Melvin's memory is his wife of 54 years, Ida Mae; his children, Lori Potter of Dubuque, Kevin Arndorfer and his wife Maria of Algona, and Ann Marie Arndorfer of Burt; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Kohlhaas of LuVerne and Rosalyn Fangman and her husband John of Britt. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loren Arndorfer; and a sister, Roberta Welter.
