Andrew C. "Andy" Bender, 39, of Filley died as the result of an accident on Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born September 26, 1973 at Gregory, SD and graduated from Colome High School in Colome, SD.

He received his Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics from U.T.I. in Phoenix, AZ. He married Kristi Shroyer on April 22, 2000 in Branson, MO and they moved to rural Filley in 2004. He worked for Tom Rakow of Pleasant Dale.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. He enjoyed his children's activities, all animals, fishing, hunting and supporting his community.

Survivors include his wife, Kristi of Filley; son, Chandler Brandert and three daughters, Montana, Kalliegh and AlleyDee Bender all of Filley; mother, Vera Hauf and husband LaMoine of Colome, SD; father, Harold Bender of Reliance, SD; two sisters, Christina Luebke of Minneapolis, MN and Kathleen Hutton of Payson, AZ; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Jane Shroyer of Fremont; three brothers-in-law, David Shroyer of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Shroyer of Lincoln and Bruce Shroyer and wife Donna of Abilene, TX; four sisters-in-law, Michelle Warehime and husband Dan of Bossier City, LA, Bobbie Miller and husband Jeff of Hattiesburg, MS, Teresa Duley of Winner, SD and Marina Duley of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrel and Thomas Duley and father-in-law Robert, Shroyer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Tim Wiggins officiating.

Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Pickrell.

A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice until 9:00 P.M. Monday and at the church one hour preceding the service on Tuesday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
