Dwight W. HORTON Age 86, passed away April 25, 2005 in Olympia, WA. Dwight was born February 14, 1919 in Silver City, IA and moved to Woodinville in 1934. He graduated from Bothell High School in 1936. He joined what would become the U.S. Air Force in 1941, serving 20 years as a pilot and attaining the rank of Major, being decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal with 6 oak leave clusters. After his retirement from the Air Force, Dwight worked as the Director of Maintenance at Valley General Hospital in Monroe, WA, from which he retired in 1984. He lived in the Clearview, WA area much of this time, later moving to Bothell, WA, before moving to Olympia in 2003. Dwight enjoyed gardening and painting. He was a responsible, optimistic man who thought things through and liked to joke. He loved kids and especially his family.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olive 'Katie' Horton of Olympia, his son Stanley Horton of Aberdeen, WA, his daughter Teresa Horton of Evanston IL, and 3 grandchildren.
An Inurnment Service with full military honors will be held Friday, May 6, 2005, 3:00 p.m. in the Camellia Garden of Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, WA. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2005, 3:00 p.m. at Abigail Stuart House in Olympia.
