City Marshal Dies Of Strange Malady

Doctors Fail To Diagnose Death Cause of Frank M. Adams; Funeral Services to be Held Sunday

Frank Mitchell Adams, 27, city marshal of this city for more than two years past, died of an undiagnosed malady in a Salt Lake City hospital late Wednesday night. He had been taken there on Friday after doctors here and in Cedar City had failed to determine the cause of a continued severe headache and then evident pressure on his brain which made him delirious much of the time.
He had complained of severe headache for several weeks but his condition hadn't been regarded as serious until the past couple of weeks when it got gradually worse. He ws taken to Cedar City on Friday and the doctors there urged that he be taken immediately to Salt Lake City. First word from him there was to the effect that his condition wasn't so serious and that there wouldn't be necessity for an operation.
His mother, who went up there with him, returned on Tuesday, feeling that there wasn't immediate danger of his passing. Word the following night that he had died was a terrible shock to her as it was to the entire community. The city asked for the privilege of bringing the corpse home and sent a car up for it. George Chilton of the Parowan Auto co. volunteered to drive it and the deceased'd oldest brother Randall went with him. They are expected to return late this afternoon and funeral services will probably be held Sunday afternoon.
Frank was born in Parowan, March 4th, 1908, a son of William and Mabel Mitchell Adams. He was educated in the schools here and then he filled a mission for the LDS Church in its German-Austrian mission, being away twenty-five months. Returning he met Buryle Hibbert who was a teacher in the high school here and they were married in the St. George temple May 24th, 1933. In January following, he was appointed as the city marshal by Mayor L.N. Marsden Jr., and was reappointed by Mayor Hatch at the beginning of the year.
Surviving him are his wife and two small children, Annette 2 and Frank Hibbert about three months, his parents, a twin sister, Mabel A. McDonald, of Mesa, Arizona and three brothers, Randall and Howard of Parowan, Emerson Adams of Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by three half sisters; Mrs. Zella Rose Whitney and Mrs. Vera Shane of Parowan and Mrs. Pearl Hoyle of spokane, and two half brothers, James L. Adams of Parowan and Morgan Adams of California.
In Frank's passing the community sustained a definite loss. He was a clean, upright citizen, a good officer; active in community affairs and a pillar in his church. Deepest sympathy goes out to his bereaved family and friends.
