Akers, Margaret Bradford., 89, of Wheeling, WV, died at home , encircled by her daughters and caregivers, on Monday, June 10, 2013.

Margaret was born on June 19, 1923, in Lakewood , Ohio. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne J. Akers ; her parents, Thomas N. Bradford and Ruth P. Bradford; her brother, Thomas P. Bradford; and her sister Ruth B. Mann.

Her immediate survivors are her daughter, Margaret A. Akers and son-in-law , Lewis Tisher, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; her daughter, Elizabeth J. Akers of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; her grandson, Wayne A. Chomitz and his wife ,Anita Sarrett , of San Francisco, California; her granddaughter, Chloe E. Akers of Anchorage, Alaska; and close family members Richard Chomitz and his wife, Leigh Penfield ,of Crofton, Maryland, and Marilyn Kuivinen of Westlake, Ohio.

Margaret was a graduate of Triadelphia High School and the Katherine Gibbs School, Boston, Massachusetts. She was a member of the King 's Daughters, Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Wheeling Country Club, and the Fort Henry Club. She served on the board of the Oglebay Institute Mansion Museum Committee. Her other volunteer work included tutoring in the reading program at Woodsdale Elementary School. Margaret was an avid golfer, rose gardener, baker, and devoted member of her bridge club.

The family thanks Dr. John Holloway, Dr. Anup Das, and her magnificent team of caregivers for their exceptional care and support.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wheeling, WV .

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) which is in top 1% of non profit organizations, 383 Main Ave 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 (themmrf.org).
