Robert M. Ayers, a lifelong resident of Randolph, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, at Milton Hospital. On Aug. 21, he would have been 91. Mr. Ayers was the loving husband of Dorothy (Mandeville) Ayers. Born, raised and educated in Randolph, Mr. Ayers was the son of the late George and Emma (Frank) Ayers. He worked as a self-employed contractor. Mr. Ayers also plowed snow for the town of Randolph for many years. He was a town meeting member for over sixty years and was an elected member of the Department of Public Works. Robert enjoyed riding his 1948 Harley Davidson motorcycle and attended the races in Laconia, N.H., with his brothers and friends. He also enjoyed going to the stock car races in Norwood over the years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ayers is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late George "Shinna", Norman "Mickey" Ayers, Margarite Holland O'Neil, Florence Sass, Ruth Chalmers and Ester Ayers. Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, Thursday, Aug. 8, at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bernadette Church, 1031 North Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph.
