Mrs. Muriel Wright, 71, Rt. 2, died Sunday at Community Hospital after an extended illness.

A lifelong resident of Alexandria, she was born Feb. 16, 1897, a daughter of William F. and Clara Penniston Pierce. She was married to Virgil Wright June 19, 1915.

Mrs. Wright was a member of the First Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 179, and the Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving are the husband, Virgil; one son, William of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Ellen High and Mrs. Barbara Lou Webster, both of Alexandria; five brothers, McClelland, Charles, Eddie and Bobby Pierce, all of Alexandria, and Jimmy Pierce of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Nehersta Roberts of Santa Monica, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church by the Rev. Eugene R. Lamport. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Karl M. Kyle Funeral Home, where OES memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
