She had been in failing health several years and was compelled to give up teaching a year ago. Since that time she and her sister, Ada, had lived in San Angelo with their niece, Miss Velma Hurley, at 62 East Highland, San Angelo.
Funeral services were held from North Side Church of Christ in Robert Lee at 4 p. m. Friday with G. B. Shelburne, Kerrville minister, officiating. Burial was in Robert Lee cemetery.
Survivors include two brothers, E. H. Hurley of Junction and Charlie Hurley of Pecos; two sisters, Miss Pearl Hurley and Miss Ada Hurley, both of San Angelo, and her niece.
She was born Dec. 26, 1890, in Atascosa County, Texas, the second child of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hurley. They moved to Coke County in 1910 where she had been a resident most of the time since that date.
Miss Myrtle taught school 20 years serving the longest periods in Wildcat and Green Mountain schools. When those districts joined with Robert Lee she accepted the position of second grade teacher in the local schools.
She also was postmaster in Robert Lee for eight years and another eight years as postmaster.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ.
Miss Myrtle had a wide friendship throughout the community, wher she spent the greater part of her adult life. She was a true friend, a good teacher and her passing has brought sorrow to the entire community.
