Zela "Margaret" Swoyer, 97, formerly of Olathe, passed away May 27, 2012 in College Station, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 900 S Honeysuckle Dr., Olathe, KS 66030. Burial follows at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Olathe, KS. Visitation 9:00 to 10:30 am before the service at the church with a Rosary at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Margaret was born in Niles, KS on Feb. 11, 1915 to Albert and Mary (Werner) Watkins. She married Leo Charles Swoyer on April 2, 1934 and moved to a farm near Glasco, KS. They lived there for 30 years. She was a farmer's wife and knew what hard work was. In the 60's Margaret worked at the Rest Home in Glasco. In 1969 Margaret and Leo moved to Olathe. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary, Glasco, KS. Margaret was known as the "pie baker" for the funeral dinners and she was Chairman for many years. She was a great mother and cook. Margaret will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in 1977; grandson, Patrick Landoll; brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Merlin and Junior; sisters, Barbara and Arlene. Margaret is survived by her six children and their families, Glen & Loueen Swoyer, Shawnee, KS, Bernard & Sue Swoyer, St. George, KS, Barbara & Gilbert Keiter, Gardner, KS, Don & June Swoyer, College Station, TX, Donna & Kenneth Roper, Olathe, KS, Mary Landoll, Manhattan, KS; sister, Mabel Ellison, Towanda, KS; 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
