Oliver Alexnder (Smith) Ables was born about 1815 in Scotland. He immigrated to the America with his family and found on the 1820 Federal Census in Elizabethtown, Essex, New York. He next appears married to Matilda Ann Lee (of Virginia) on the 1840 Federal Census marrried and with wife and child Jane Ables in Putnam, Livingston, Michigan. He had two additional children Matilda Ann (Biddy) Abels Galloway (born 1847) and William Edward Abels (1848-1905). He cannot be found on the 1850 federal census. It is possible he died before this census in possibly Ohio for that is where last child William Edward Abels was born.
