Ernest grew up on a farm owned by his Grandfather John Alexander Tidball on Tidball Road in Duanesburg, NY along with brothers Clifford, John, Larry, Joe, and Doug and sisters Lucille Palmer, and Hazel St Pearre. He married Elsie Baker on May 1, 1948 at the Second Reformed Church In Schenectady New York. Elsie's Half brother Harry St Pearre married Hazel, and Her Sister Ida married Ernest's brother John. Ernest worked for Joe Carlo at Modern Craft Laundry at 25 State Street, Schenectady, NY. Working repairing washers, and dryers. Ernest then went on to work for Schenectady General Electric as a turret lathe operator. During a strike at GE he worked detailing cars at Van Curler Motors. After moving to Rotterdam he took on a second job at Schalmont High School as a bus driver. He also volunteered at the Pine Grove Fire Department as one of its founding members. He loved working on his cars, and was a fan of Ford vehicles, and craftsman tools. He also loved Big time wrestling, and watched it as often as he could.
Often times a quiet, reserved person he loved joking around at times. He and his family were members of the Advent Christian Church in Schenectady. Under pastor William Mathers, then Under Pastor David Squire who performed funeral services at Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady,NY. He is buried Along side his mother in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY. As his wife moved to Columbus, Ohio to be near her family, and she remarried, and is interned there with her second husband Wallace Thompson.
