GUN WOUND CAUSES DEATH Allen L. Tolle. Rancher of Water District Number Seven, Shot by His Gun While Rabbit Hunting.From Imperial Valley Press 3 June 1911Allen L. Tolle, aged 48 years, a rancher in Water District No. 7, was killed by a shot from his own gun while rabbit hunting last Sunday forenoon. Mr. Tolle left his home early in the morning, saying he would go out rabbit hunting, and setting the time he expected to return. His wife became worried when he did not appear at the time appointed and sent out neighbors to search for him. His body was found in a brush thicket, with a wound in the breast over the heart, where a discharge from his own gun had struck him. It is believed he attempted to pull the gun through the brush when the hammer caught in the jungle and fired the gun. Coroner Peterson made an examination and determined that death was clearly the result of an accident.
