Winifred Dean Drane, 84, of Memphis, TN died on Monday, July 22, 2013. A native of Texas, she was the daughter of Damon and Delphine Dean, formerly of Memphis. She was a musician for most of her life, playing percussion in the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra for many years. Winnie also sang in the Memphis Symphony Chorus and the Second Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. In her later years, she took up playing the Celtic harp, and was an avid genealogist. She leaves her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, G. Vernon Drane; a daughter, Karen D. Busler of Bartlett; two sons, Gerald A. Drane of Cummings, GA and Windel V. Drane of Southaven, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 25 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home.
