Lori Ann Gray Aycock, 39, a loving wife and mother peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, surrounded by her family. She now joins her mother, grandmother and many other loved ones who have passed away before her. She was a native of Portsmouth, a Baptist and an administrative assistant. Lori is survived by her husband, Johnny Gray Aycock; father, Herbert Gray Sr. and his wife Linda; stepfather, David Slaughter; grandfather, Durwood Lane and his wife Toni; two sons, David Leland Nickelson Jr. and Sean Joseph Baigis; stepdaughter, Alexandria Renee' Aycock; brother, Doug Gray and his wife Pam; two nieces, Victoria and Olivia; two aunts, Betty Scott and Alice Underwood and her husband Jimmy; uncle, Timothy Lane and his wife Margaret; two cousins, Cheryl Schroeder and Jerilyn Bennett; brother-in-law, Gary Aycock and his wife Donna; a niece, India and a nephew, Bobby Aycock. She was predeceased by her mother, Jane Slaughter and grandmother, Lora Jacobs. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, she suggested memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Jane Slaughter and Lora Jacobs Scholarship Fund at Alliance Christian School.
